Yesterday, I created a beta release of the CiviCRM recurring mail extension. This extension allows you to set a CiviMail to be sent out on a recurring schedule and was developed as part of a project for eLife.

Why would you want to send out the same email on a recurring schedule, I hear you ask? That's a good question. Recurring emails become powerful when partnered up with dynamic tokens that pull in regularly changing data. Lets say you have a token that automaticaly lists the upcoming events on your website. Or the latest news from your blog. One such source of tokens is the fancy tokens extension.

eLife have their own extension that creates the tokens they need and use it, in conjunction with this extension to send a customised weekly email to their subscribers containing the latest articles on subjects they are interested in.

If you find this extension useful, or have any feedback, it would be great to hear from you.
